Costs will vary by different geological conditions, depth, and equipment used. Ex: Whether the well is installed in overburden (sand and gravel) as opposed to solid bedrock. 


Wells can last 40–50 years or more, but the pump and parts may need maintenance or replacement every 10–15 years.


On average drilling can take ~2.5 days. 


Water should be tested after drilling for bacteria, nitrates, and minerals. You may need a filtration or softening system depending on results.


At least once a year, or if there’s a change in taste, odor, or color.
